Several Little Things part 5

Thursday, June 15th, 2006

It seems weird to me when Christians are cranky. I mean I’m not religious, but if I was, I’d take it seriously. And I guess that there are many interpretations of Christianity (i.e. God created me in his image and he gave me all the world and everything in it to exploit and plunder, and I can do whatever crappy BS I want as long as I repent on my deathbed). AND I know that Christians are just people to…but I would think that from a Christian’s point of view it would be all “Jesus was a nice guy and he said be nice to your fellow man” and whatnot. So when somebody gets pissy with me because I can’t help them with their Happy God Ministry business account, I just want to say “sorry, I’m taking away your saviour fan club card. You broke the rules.”

I forgot to mention that I saw a deer on the way to Chilliwack last week. Merrick sounded surprised last night to learn that when I take the day off work to come to band practice, I am effectively out $120 (including expenses to get there and money I would otherwise be making). I figure if Warren can pay for airfare from the UK I can at least make an effort to be out there every week. Besides, who needs an excuse to not go to work?

I’m very much into entering online contests these days. I buy a lot of Coca Cola Zero and I make sure to enter my codes to enter the “Win A Trip to any North American Concert” contest. Even if I don’t care about the concert, I’d pick somewhere I’ve never been before and explore the city. The best ones are the no purchase necessary. So if anyone knows of such contest that a Canadian can enter online, please let me know!

Here’s a tip for everyone – mix the 7-up into your orange shake AFTER you’ve vigorously shaken up the contents in your plastic container. Otherwise you’ll have a big post explosion mess all over your stove and floor that you’ll have to spend five rags and 15 minutes on. Especially if being down there on your hands and knees makes you realize how filthy the cupboards are down there. I mean really, I’d rather not know.

I’m not a fan of makeup. I don’t think makeup brings anything to the table. I think it’s outdated. I think people (women) rely on it, and it falls into the whole beauty myth – hey wasn’t there a book by that name? Most importantly on a personal level: if I can notice it, it does not look good. You will always look better without it. So when I read about Running Press making a deal with Cover Girl to place the latter’s product in a young adult novel, it made me feel sad and outraged.
