Exciting Things Are Afoot

Monday, July 10th, 2006

Has anyone else heard of this red paper clip guy? Two days until his housewarming in Kipling, SK. He traded a paper clip for a house. Very inspiring. Also very inspiring is the miniseries “The Long Way Round” with Ewan McGregor and his buddy motorbiking around the world. Stewie got it on DVD and we pretty much watched the entire 5 episode series in a couple days. All reality TV should be so good.

Here’s the master plan for the rest of the month:

This week: Finish my Power Enterprise drawings

Next week: Illustrate Amanda’s digestive system boardgame

Week after: Kid’s book.

Throughout: Thickets album.

ADDENDUM: Photos of real life monsters from the deep sea that are up for awards. Must see!

PLUS: Space is big.

WWFJ The Game

Monday, July 10th, 2006

I’ve decided to run a World Wildlife Federation of Justice game at H.P. Lovecraft’s Birthday Party (Aug 25-27). I’m thumbing through my Call of Cthulhu books for a suitable adventure that I can adapt with a minimum of fuss. The characters will be pregenerated (likely Octopussycat, Haardvark, Shaolin Monkey, Crackerjackal, Tasmanian Daredevil, Micronewt, Orangutangler & Baboom) and I’ll have to be careful about overpowering them, but it should be fun. The schedule for the con went up last night, by the way, for you Vancouver gamers, and we hope to have tickets ready for next weekend. www.vancouvergamingguild.com

Drawing Camping

Monday, July 10th, 2006

So the first class of Slackademics went reasonably well. I can’t decide if I was overprepared or underprepared, but we covered a lot of ground. I bought a honeydew melon and folded a photo of Kenny B’s head in quarters. I’ve never taught drawing to anyone before so it was a challenge and a little bit intimidating, but if I can do it, you can do it! I hope that the next class will be camping skills, followed by an actual Slackademics camping trip! I’ve been trying to go camping for years but every plan I make falls through. Knock on trees that I can pull this off, with the help of Geoff and anyone else who’s interested. I’m hoping for camping around the 29th and the class up to a week prior. If you’re on the slackademics email list you got my email, please reply – I’m making a big spreadsheet to figure out what the next classes will be and I can’t do it without your input.
