The Dukes of Alhazred (2017)
The band’s first crowdfunded album presents 13 tracks including a re-recording of old favourite “Shoggoths Away” and the final remixed/remaster of Rock Band downloadable song “Shhh….” as well as “Kill the Chupacabra” previously only available on 2008 Child’s Play Music for Charity CD. New tracks include the musical adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s ‘The Statement of Randolph Carter’ (“You Fool, Warren is Dead!”), a love letter to an ancient fish (“Coelacanthem”), the true story of one of America’s worst industrial accidents (“The Great Molasses Disaster”), a visit to a Tsathoggua cult (“Welcome to the Island”), a tribute to another HPL story involving a strange violist and a window to another dimension (“Erich Zann”), a Russian wolf demon (“Varcolac”), and more!

Shadow Out Of TimThe Shadow Out Of Tim
When is an H.P. Lovecraft story not a book? When it’s an album by The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets, of course! Following their seven year tour of outer space in support of Spaceship Zero: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, “The Thickets” return to Earth and the waters off New Zealand in a very special operatic adaptation of Lovecraft’s “The Shadow Out of Time.” In HPL’s original tale set in 1913, Professor Peaslee of Massachusetts has his mental faculties swapped by an alien mind and learns terrible truths about life on Earth and beyond. The Vancouver, BC nerdcore band’s The Shadow Out of Tim — their third full-length album and fifth CD release — features modern marine biologist Dr. Timothy Vess’ descent into madness brought on by similar circumstances. The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets, a cult mainstay since 1992, take you on a rock ‘n’ roll tour through space and time, painting sonic pictures of the ocean deep, mysterious ruin-covered islands, and Paleocene jungles. Five out of five Cthulhu scholars agree — The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets’ The Shadow Out of Tim is the perfect soundtrack to occult investigation!

Hurts Like Hell!Hurts Like Hell!
Our second demo tape, contained 9 tracks. These were later re-released on our CD, Great Old Ones, with the exception of “Screams From R’lyeh,” merely a mild Mellotron musical maelstrom, “Stitching Uranus,” which I’d rather not talk about, and “Worship Me Like a God,” which was rerecorded for Cthulhu Strikes Back. Furthermore, the rerecording of “Diggin’ Up the World” had an extended ending with nominal cursing care of Jordan, which we jettisoned for Great Old Ones.

Gurgle Gurgle GurgleGurgle Gurgle Gurgle
Our first demo, called Gurgle Gurgle Gurgle, had three bad songs, but great graphics.

The first song, “Three Hour Log” (which, I feel compelled to relate, is named after those logs you can buy at Safeway that purportedly burn for 3 hours) is a painful memory. “Diggin’ Up the World” is, of course, timeless, as is “Cthulhu Dreams,” which we rerecorded on our first CD release, Cthulhu Strikes Back.
