I’m please as punch to show the internet this, the first ever miniature of Rhinosferatu, the vampire rhino and enemy of the World Wildlife Federation of Justice. This was created by Uncle Mike’s Worldwide, the creators of the Strange Aeons Lovecraftian tactical miniatures game.

Lately I’ve been working on a new design for Bad Girl Chocolates, as well as some spot illustrations for Fight On! Magazine. I’ll post the art soon enough, but for now I’ve scanned in and uploaded for your viewing please some Rhinosferatu art by my friends which has been stagnating in my Rhinosferatu sketch book.

Oh, and Uncle Mike’s Worldwide is working on some Rhinosferatu miniatures, more news about that as it develops!

The Dark Octopussycat Returns

Octopussycat, as a kitten, showed some psychokinetic powers and was taken by the government to be groomed as an assassin. Later, through the help of one of the scientists working on the project, she escaped. After exacting her revenge on those who created her, she became a vigilante in the streets of Zoopolis. This led to a series of run ins with World Wildlife Federation of Justice members such as Go-Rilla and Shaolin Monkey. Eventually they convinced her to join the team.

Powers: limited telekinesis and fear projection. Camouflage cloak. Ninja-oriented skills and octopus-related gadgets.

Partially inspired by Cecil Turtle of Warner Bros cartoon fame, Mach Turtle not only is fast, but he flies…like a jet! His jet stuff pops out of compartments in his shell, of course.

This is the first draft. I’m actually not great at drawing the mechanical techno-military stuff so I’m hoping to make him cooler looking in the next iteration.

WWFJ: Awesome Possum logo

With each character I create for the World Wildlife Federation of Justice, I like to create a logo to go with him/her. Here’s the first draft for Awesome Possum. I wanted to make it a bit reminiscent of Superman* and it kind of has that 1980′s Kenner Super Powers look, which is a happy accident.

* I find it interesting that Superman’s “S” on his chest has serifs, but the logo on his comic book does not.

Back to the original idea. Switcheroo is one of those classic Batman or Flash rogues gallery villains. He’s always got a trick up his sleeve. He’s replaced the priceless diamond with a replica. You’re about to clock him in the chops – you just walloped your sidekick! You think you’ve tied his hands up – they’re fake arms! Oh the old switcheroo! Comments on the design are welcome.

I had originally thought of Switcheroo as a trickster type villain, like the Riddler. All his schemes involving twist endings. The ol’ switcheroo, you know?

But I’m thinking I’m favoring this character who teleports. He can teleport to where you are and teleport you to where he is. So his tactic would be to jump into a pit of acid and switch places with the hero at the last second. That sort of thing.

Not sure why exactly I gave him a Jugheadesque crown and a sweater. But you’ll notice that the S on his chest is also a symbol of two arrows trading places with one another. That’s my favourite part.
